FC Barcelona Ready for Historic Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in domestic competition 30 months after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a public practice inside the stadium in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht on 9 December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
