Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
